Symptoms Of Bibliophilia [Beware]

So you’re here, why? I don’t know it really depends but I’m assuming you are frightened, frightened for you life most probably because Bibliophilia is a serious condition. It has no cure and when one acquires any of these symptoms just one, well the person is definitely with no doubt what so ever suffering it.

Bibliophilia is experienced everywhere, to anyone and at any time. Despite the random probability of it happening, not much carry such profound “disease” let’s say. If you’re thinking that you suffer from it, then do please have a look at this short list of my discoveries as a Bibliophile.

You suffer chronic Bibliophilia when :

1. You Cannot Stop Reading

It could be about anything, but the main root cause is this simple act. The act of consistently reading all day at all times whatever the reading material may be. It could be the newspaper from a week ago or a random receipt from Starbucks (Interesting stuff you could find there!)

2. You Cannot Move On From A Book After Finishing One

This my friends is one solid symptom that could just smack you in the face saying “You’re a Bibliophile bro” But moving on is one thing and moving on from a BOOK is another. Bibliophiles cannot get this horrible symptom down, never has anyone done it.

3. You’d Rather Smell Like A Book Then The Fancy Better Smelling Perfumes

Okay this I have to agree with, numerous times I’ve caught myself rubbing a newly opened book on my face celebrating each sniff I made during that. I know it’s weird but I suffer bibliophilia.

4. You Believe That The Spine of a Book Is More Important Then You’re Own Spine

You know that crunchy feeling when you’re non-reader friend just opens up the book and bends the spine like “damn it! This book is the portal to heaven I MUST OPEN IT EVEN MORE” Yes I’ve experienced that and I remember crying inside for a week. (I claim no truth of the final line of this paragraph)

5. You Want To Write A Book But You Don’t Write A Book

It’s peculiar how bibliophiles always revel in the thought of being published and having their names on kids walls I mean that would be great but sometimes some of us just aren’t cut out for it. But Bibliophiles never stop dreaming! (Doing is of slight chance)

6. You Sometimes Have Two Of The Same Book

One is for reading over and over again and the other is for display purposes on the glorious book shelf! Trust me, this is NOT OCD.

7. You Buy Books But Don’t Read Them, Collecting Them Perhaps

It’s true I believe. I’ve been to second hand bookshops and have come across brilliant books costing less than a McDonalds Burger and finding myself buying then storing them into my Book Cornucopia accepting that it will be lost there forever without me reading it again.

8. You’d Rather Read A Good Book Then Go To The Coolest Party In Town

I know that these days, the more parties you go to the cooler you be – not to mention popular. But bibliophiles prefer to stay at home against a warm fireplace reading a good book.

So there most probably is more, I’m still in an extensive research of myself trying to understand why we are who we are. But I’m pretty sure there’s more! I’d love to know! Helps a lot with what I’m trying to conjure here! Comment them down below!

I hope this was a fun read! Adios 🙂

[Being a Bibliophile is not bad at all, this was just written for humor and for fun!]

My thoughts on “A Clash Of Kings” by George R.R. Martin

The day has come. I’ve completed another epic book by George R.R. Martin. It took me approximately 16 days to complete A Clash of Kings, which contained 1009 pages! I started reading it on the 24th of January and finished it today, February 9.

Before moving on, I’d like to warn you that this review would be a complete example of the worst non-spoiled review for the reason that there would be lots of it (spoilers I mean). So if you’re here just to know whether it’s a good read or not then scroll down to the bottom of the page where I’ll be giving my “final recommendations”. But if you’re here just to see another reader’s point of view or you don’t really care about spoilers then read on!

Okay so on the previous book (A Game of Thrones), Lord Eddard dies, Sansa captive in King’s Landing with King Joffrey, Arya is lost and Bran crippled, Rickon, well he’s still the same old him and Robb becomes the Lord of Winterfell.

Before the civil war started after King Robert’s death, claims have been made by those who thought to be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Specifically, claims by Stannis Baratheon, Renly Barathen and Joffrey Baratheon. Beyond King’s Landing, Robb, Eddard Stark’s son claims King of the North and Balon Greyjoy King of the Iron Islands creating a huge war between them in Westeros.

A lot of things happened in the book to be mentioned but the above paragraph is what I think to be the basic premise of what the book is about.

So here’s what I think. I think the book is just as great as the first. Though it still contained extremely violent themes and others not common to Fantasy books (so far that I’ve read) A Clash of Kings was even better.

Sophie Turner playing Sansa Stark.

Sophie Turner playing Sansa Stark on the HBO series “A Game of Thrones”

Two new characters are introduced here, Ser Davos Seaworth (A former smuggler, turned to a Knight under King Stannis Baratheon) and Theon Greyjoy (Former ward to Lord Eddard Stark and heir to the Seastone Chair.) And along are characters from the previous book, Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, Catelyn Stark, Sansa Stark, Bran Stark and Arya Stark.

When I started to read I turned frail in sadness for Sansa and Arya. The results of what happened in A Game of Thrones really turned their futures ill. Arya was suppose to be brought back to Winterfell after she sneaked out with the Night Watch’s men and posed as Arry, a young boy (No girls were accepted to the watch). On the way they are captured by Lannister men and brought to Harrenhal where she played as a serving girl. Sansa on the other hand stayed as Joffrey’s betrothed. With him she is beaten either when Joffrey is displeased with her or he’s just really pissed off. Poor Sansa.

On the other hand, Bran is declared temporal Lord of Winterfell while Robb went out to war along with Catelyn Stark (their mother), rallying Tully and Stark Banners against the Lannister army. And in his endeavor to do so he also wins numerous battles in their homeland destroying thousands of Lannister men.

Tyrion however is brought back to King’s Landing as Joffrey’s Hand. Where he secretly plots his own attacks to preserve King’s Landing from the abominable attack of Stannis Baratheon.

Kit Harrington playing as Jon Snow.

Kit Harrington playing as Jon Snow.

Jon Snow is now a solid part of the Watch where we find him part of a scouting party beyond the wall. Where at the end he is stuck with Qhorin Halfhand as they both are hunted by wildlings. At the end Qhorin decides to lure them in and allow Jon to “yield” to these wildlings in order to learn their ways but not be a part of them (secretly). But in all this, an army of a thousand is said to walk on an attack to the wall led by the King beyond the wall, Mance Ryder.

Daenerys Targaryen still believes to be the Queen of all, as she is the mother of dragons .(on the first book, she hatched three dragon eggs on Drogo’s funeral pyre – thus owning three dragons who she named Viserion, Rhaegal and Drogon)

The story just gets compelling as you trudge into its deeper parts. Suspense gets intense by the page. It was cool to find out that the Stark direwolves are a lot bigger now, bigger than horses. Jon and Bran being skinchangers was cool too.

The epic Tyrion Lannister. Played by Peter Dinklage.

The epic Tyrion Lannister. Played by Peter Dinklage.

When I reached the ending parts of the book where the war started to commence. I started to feel giddy and excited. The vividness to which he described the scene was amazing! At Davos’s chapter, you’ll see him riding his ship the Black Betha as he moved closer to the shores of king’s landing as he shouted commands passed on by his sons. And When you do “see” you’ll feel the suspense, the curiosity of what lies beyond. You’ll hear the drums played while the oarsmen followed the beat and the taunts that meant battle was coming “Ahoooooooo, Ahoooooooo”

Then deeper into the war, Tyrion leads an army while he falls into a killing frenzy splicing heads with his axe. Wildfire spreads into the sea killing most of the Baratheon men. It was thrilling to read, though it was extremely graphic, the way it was portrayed was just super! It was extremely shocking though how Stannis lost the war, I totally expected him to win since along he had his brother’s army of more than thousands obvious to overthrow King’s Landing. Turns out, Lord Tywin Lannister withdrew from his battle against Robb and took Stannis by surprise.

Final Recommendations

Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) with her dragon, Drogon.

Here’s what I have in mind to those who haven’t read the book. If you’re really into books like these where there’s lots of blood, semi complex politics, wars with sword and shield and medieval settings then you should definitely read this one. But to make it even simpler, if you loved A Game of Thrones, then this  won’t fail you. I’d give this a 9 out of 10 < I took the last point out for the gruesome negative emotions one would feel as the story progresses. So beware!

My thoughts on “Assasin’s Apprentice” by Robin Hobb

Assassin’s Apprentice

I’ve been wanting to post a book review about this for a long time now, I just didn’t have the time for it back then so here’s what I’ve got in mind.

Assassin’s Apprentice. Another one of the epic fantasy books I’ve got, it’s the first one in the Farseer Trilogy and I’ve got all three. ( I’ve only read the first two and will be posting a review each on the last two soon. )

The book was written by Robin Hobb a pen name for Margaret Astrid Lindholm Ogden who used many other pseudonyms during her writing career, which is pretty cool. At my first look I mistook her for being a male, I mean no contempt! She’s an awesome writer!

The first book revolves around the young bastard son, FitzChivalry, of the suppose-to-be King-in-waiting, Prince Chivalry. In the Kingdom of Six Duchies, FitzChivalry is claimed by King Shrewd, lord of Buck and allows Fitz to be part of the Farseer line as it his rights as well. But as bastard he is, he becomes a tool of the King, not much of a grandson but a tool. Fitz becomes a secret assassin of the king and we watch him grow as one, we watch his training and everything that happens before becoming one, we watch him evolve from a mere boy to a killing machine.

Alright so that’s the basic overview of what the story is, don’t worry about spoilers because there is none in it. Well what can I really say about this book? It’s amazing! I’ve never been really attached to a book before, I mean like really attached. Though the Game of Thrones would be first in my list, Assassin’s Apprentice is fit to contend.

Robin Hobb is really great in creating a solid realistic character as she did with Fitz. Since the book is somewhat like a diary, written in the first person (FitzChivalry’s perspective) you get to see what he feels and what he thinks, Robin Hobb did really great in writing him. You could really sense the realism as FitzChivalry tells us his story, I sometimes forget that this is a Fantasy book not a true story. And I myself have been moved by some of his glum moments, there is a relation between Fitz and the reader somehow that makes this book so good!

Even though, there were a few parts that I didn’t like about the book. Well that would be its pace. Sometimes I’d be caught in a scene and just keep flipping pages but then sometimes I’d put the book down just to give my eyes a bit of rest. Why so? There were a few parts that just went so slow!! Most of the reviewers I’ve seen said that the first half of the book is just boring and long, well I do agree with that 100%.

But to think of it, the superfluous information that made the book “boring” was essential to keep Fitz a full person. I mean, do you think that our lives would be interesting all the time? Well not all the time. These parts of the book somehow intertwined the latter awesome parts, it molded Fitz to what he would be in the future, boring or not – all were important. And this comes to another cool thing about the book is that things actually happen to Fitz for a reason.

Let’s have this example. Okay, let’s say I ate a cheese, but a reader would see that as a filler, something to keep the flow going in a chapter. Then later on, who would know that the cheese affected my digestion system and thwarted my productivity? So you can’t say that it’s just a filler, it happened and there’s a consequence. And that is how it works in the Assassin’s Apprentice.

If you’ve read the book though, you’d notice that a  few entries were written before each chapter about the history of the six duchies, the elderlings or anything pertinent to the book. That’s one thing I didn’t like too, though it didn’t really annoy me, it just contested my patience sometimes.

To read it or not? I say READ it! There’s no other book that would enrapture you and just feel sorry and happy during the time. A participation is there, a subtle relationship so elusive that you won’t even know it’s already been there after a touch of the book’s cover. The only thing that would stop you from reading it is your patience, if you find reading books containing 600+ pages hard to read well you’d never experience the awesomeness!

Thanks for reading my book review guys! Tell me what you thought about it 😀

My thoughts on “A Game of Thrones” by George R.R. Martin

It is time. Just a day after finishing this book I needed time to reflect on what I just consumed for the past eight days hence this review is born, or about to be, which will be.

“Winter is coming!” Oh how I love this line, if you’ve read the book you may understand what I mean since it carries so many meanings and happenings from deaths and victories.

Common reviews contain a brief passage of what the book is about but I wouldn’t want to be cliche, first because it insults the book I am about to review as it is as unique it can get, and spoilage is inevitable and the plot, oh goodness, how complex it is that a short six lined paragraph wouldn’t suffice.

This is a stout book ( a euphemism for fat but nonetheless ) and it did take me a day and a week to complete it following a strict goal of 100 pages per day which I found out to be not a hard feat for the book is just too great!

Let’s start off with Ser George’s writing, I may not be a veteran in writing but a mere apprentice to the masters of it, It is clear that his writing isn’t mediocre but the entire opposite, it flows and does not leave gaps for the reader to ponder after each full stop put, and along with that is its simplicity, it isn’t boastful and completes its purpose of creating distinct and vivid imagery in the reader’s mind.

To be frank before purchasing the whole A Song of Ice and Fire book set I’ve spent a month searching and reading reviews from people who have read it before me and what I caught to be similar to all was that it isn’t for everyone. And I understand why. I can even tell myself that it really isn’t for everyone, here’s a list of what should keep wandering readers at bay from this monster of a book :

1. If you prefer puppy love and heroics then this isn’t for you.

2. Blood? Carcasses? Vivid moments of bloodshed?Dangerous gritty events? The faint of heart must keep away.

3. If you aren’t mature about the way people copulate or its forcefulness ( epar – read backwards ) you must keep away from this book , and remember curiosity kills the cat. ( Such events are added as this book is also based upon George R.R. Martin’s study about real life events of the medieval times and religion and whatever history kept for the people of the present. )

4. If magic is an essential ingredient to you when looking for Fantasy books well this doesn’t have it, but it does have dragons!

5. This one is the most obvious – if you don’t have the patience to read BIG books then this is simply not for you 🙂

As it is gritty fantasy it will contain mature content and inhumane events caused by folly and tyranny, but remember all these actually happened in the times before our current present.

Keeping all these variables at hand what makes this one a worthwhile and enthralling read is the realism of the characters. George R.R. Martin focuses more on the characters and lesser of the storytelling, but by saying that I don’t mean that he shrugs off the telling of the story to the point where the book is just an atrocious read, he actually does a better job in it than most of the works other authors have done that I’ve read. This in turn makes the reader more involved with each character as you will see what they feel, what they’re thinking before hand and after, and experiencing each of their own predicaments and the opposite with them and I can guarantee you, that at the end of the book you’ll just miss them for it. ( George R.R. Martin created the book with different points of views which are separated into chapters, so chapter 1 would be in the p.o.v of Eddard, second would be to Arya, this makes the book even more fun to read as there are multiple plot lines, and under each of it would be counter plots which really gets you involved as the reader may want to remember plot points and recall them after any gap in between, and plus all of the characters are their own protagonist dealing with their own problems and anything they need to go through not one of any are the same but are all connected into one plot!! A great example of cause and effect )

Most fantasy readers would always expect the good guys to win and the bad guys get incinerated or incarcerated or anything bad happen to them, but in this book? The bad guys get the same chance to win as the good ones, which comes to another great feature – BALANCE. As most books are based on protagonist vs. antagonist, this one would base its evil and good upon the reader, some may find some characters evil or some may find the same ones good, which again I should mention the reader’s involvement, it does require intelligence and great understanding when reading this work of art!

One last thing, GRRM isn’t scared to kill off characters. All I can tell is that some characters will die here and all of them you’d already have a great connection with. ( a connection formed from being with them for 800 pages and multiple days ) And after flipping the last page I just couldn’t be happy again, I tried to muster all the great things I have in life but it just wouldn’t work, gladly after a day I got to my feet and proclaim its magnificence. ( This is how the reader gets so involved, it affects the real dimension of life itself ) So if you’re not emotionally ready ( as you may find yourselves feeling unfathomable amounts of emotion for a character and against one too ) then this book may not be for you, but nonetheless I highly recommend this book! If you’re reading this review, and is still dubious about reading it then I tell you, read it!!!

If you’re reading this book with the aim of just being reeled into another world different from ours, to feel happy and sad, to feel content, and not the purpose of actually judging GRRM’s writing and bashing him for being unrealistic or whatsoever critical thoughts book reviewers would come up with then this book is for YOU! Just check your maturity level and you’re ready!

Thanks for reading! If you ever read this book, comment below and tell me what you thought! Goodbye guys

My thoughts on “Percy Jackson and the olympians : The Lightning Thief” by Rick Riordan

Hello there!

Just after flipping the last page of The Lightning Thief numerous opinions took its place in my mind and on this book review I’ll tell you just it.

So I know that this is a Children’s/Middle Grade Dude’s book but I took my chances since I’ve read other books that fall under the same category and suddenly ending with a disagreement that such book should be for everyone and not just for kids!

Before moving on, I’d like to bring to your attention that this review is for those who’ve read it already, if you haven’t than do mind the spoilers that you shall pass by somewhere in this book review.

Olympus is in a bothering predicament, someone stole Zeus’s lightning bolt which is also a symbol of his position between the Gods. According to him Poseidon took it and used his son to do so. It all starts with Percy and his best friend Grover taking on a field trip at the Metropolitan Museum of Art located in Manhattan New York City. During the tour, he faces a fury disguised as his foul Teacher Mrs. Dodds, a pen is given to him by his professor and from uncapping it grew a bronze sword. With it Percy slays the monster and frees himself from a perilous predicament. From here, secrets start to unveil before him, he finally gains information about the reasons of his father’s disappearance and his state of being the Sea god and himself being a demigod; half mortal, half god. Prior to knowing, he is brought to Camp Half Blood along with his friend Grover which he found out to be a Satyr, and receives a Prophecy that would change his destiny forever. He meets Annabeth and brings her with his quest to retrieve the Lightning bolt from Hades (which by the way, ends up without it since Hades after all doesn’t even have it within his grasp) and so to prevent a war between the gods of olympus before the winter solstice.

Though this book is a children’s book, the adventure and various thrilling predicaments experienced by the trio (Percy, Annabeth, Grover) caught my off guard. And as oblivious I was about the book before reading, I knew that this book wasn’t just for kids.

Rick Riordan is really good with his art, he explains every occurrence that happens with sufficient detail, no superfluous pieces of information, it was just right to give you a fairly vivid imagery of the events the trios would experience.

The development of Percy in this book is quite realistic and well done along with Annabeth’s and Grover’s. An example is Percy’s transformation from being a coward to a kid brave to confront any predicament he would be in, and resulted in him ALMOST defeating Ares the god of war. Also the numerous displays of faith he had in his father the sea god, from the fact that he never believed in him is a great step forward for Percy. Grover on the other hand ends with a stronger belief in himself, Annabeth too took in the second chance of being with her family which she for five years discarded the thought. So I can’t wait to see how these characters turn out on the second book after a year away from the camp half blood.

Though Percy being twelve years old without any training or whatsoever, could be able to slay a Minotaur, and almost defeat the god of war along with escaping from a Hydra seemed to me as quite unrealistic. But none the less it is extremely cool, but I’m sure those who read fantasy books and look at it to forcefully about realism would frown upon this. But either way, Percy is a demigod, and his ADHD plays apart and separates himself from what deems realistic or mortal in the book.

The first book, The Lightning Thief is a great book. Not just to middle grade students, but also for those who just want to get themselves indulged in fantastic and thrilling seas of vivid imaginations so I recommend this to everyone! To the veterans, newly born bookworms, the elderly even your parents!

Out of 10 I’d give this a 9.5 since the realism may be an issue, but I could never care less about it. So I guess it’s a 10!!

Thanks for reading the review, comment below if you have any other thoughts about the book and check out more of Rick Riordan’s books on his site

My thoughts on “Fablehaven : Rise of the Evening Star” by Brandon Mull

So Just after reading the first book of the Fablehaven series I quickly took the sequel Rise of the Evening Star. As expected, it was awesome!!

Now that Kendra and Seth know about  Fablehaven, things start to stir up. After leaving the preserve a year ago, Kendra starts to experience and notice things that she normally wouldn’t, she thinks it was a side effect of all those kisses she received from the fairies after saving Fablehaven from eternal destruction, and locking up Bahumat and that wretched witch Muriel. Seth on the other hand still can’t believe the events that occurred at Fablehaven, and has learned from his mistakes he made during his time there very well.

But at this visit everything has changed in Fablehaven, new defenders volunteered, beguiling adventures are set before Seth and Kendra to acquire peace in Fablehaven and to suppress the Rise of the Evening Star by gaining an artifact which plays an important part on opening Zzyxx, the demon prison.

Brandon Mull constructs this sequel in a way that it can be a “stand alone” in the sense, that each event would be understandable without requiring information from the first book, but even though, he still brings former characters from it like Doren and Newel, Hugo and Mendigo along with the protagonists Kendra and Seth, with others too, while mixing in a few new characters that each have their own unique play in the story, all resulting into a greatly enthralling adventure of profoundness, along with thrilling pieces of events and shocking mind appealing discoveries!

Like the first book, I would never doubt or stop myself from recommending this book to anyone, to kids who can read, to teenagers looking for books to entice their imagination or adults who wish to become a young adult again and feed onto creative imagination. I’ll give this book a two thumbs up! and five full stars to justify my impressed feel towards this great novel.

My thoughts on “Fablehaven” by Brandon Mull

If you ever passed by this book, and ignored it for being in the “Ages 9-12” Section of whatever bookshop you were in, or because it just wasn’t “mature” looking enough. Well if so, you just ignored one of the greatest of fantasy books a person would ever have.

But if what was mentioned above did not apply to your situation then awesome! I expect you have bought it.

After it’s release, Fablehaven received astounding feedback from authors and readers alike, many even compared it’s greatness to Harry Potter!

Inheritance Cycle Author Christian Paolini even mentioned “The Fablehaven series is one of the most enjoyable fantasies I’ve read in the past few years. I only wish I could have read it when I was ten or twelve.”

And he’s a well known author, being one of the greatest too, and receiving such feedback from him justified that Fablehaven is truly great work. It’s also a New York Times Best Seller ! Along with many other awards.

From the point of finding out this book, the whole series was already complete, so I bought the Fablehaven Book set containing all five books, which not to mention was slightly obscure here in the Philippines and the set wasn’t common in Bookshops. Though this was a fact, my cousin and I went all over, searched for it, and after a long and tiring mission seeking it, we ended victorious!

The first book “Fablehaven” was to me at first sight, just another fantasy book. It was my curiosity that actually wanted to find out it’s magnificance, and if there ever was, I wanted to experience it.

I read the book, and not soon after the first few pages, I was caught in a trance, in a world revolving in awesomeness. It was like being a spectator of an awesome fantasy t.v show, with Kendra being the rule worthy sister, while Seth a contrast and opposite to what his sister was, and the rest of the characters having their own part bringing color to my imagination.

Fablehaven brings you to this animal preserve, like a zoo, but not for animals.. but instead for beings not normal in other words magical creatures, satyrs and fairies, golems and giants! The way Brandon Mull extracts his imagination to his writing is undeniably well done, everything is so vivid, you would never feel away from Fablehaven and you’d always feel farther from reality, you would basically be there as you read.

Not only does he vividly describe each happening, the plot he designed was genius, at least to me, but either way, it will always be deemed as awesome! Every small detail you can read… , from Kendra’s thoughts, and Seth’s you only live once nature. Each action would result in to something that always made sense, and that itself leads to another mystery, it comes one after another, and with that kind of construction you would always find yourself curious of what happens next, a crazy page turner!

I finished this book in just a day, the book just never left my hands, and the other way around too! The whole storyline just had me wanting for more each minute, never did I regard my fatigue and heavy eyes, because letting go of the book just wasn’t an option.

The most important trait of the book, is the lessons behind it, young readers would learn the rules of cause and effect, with the effects being consequences you would have to face. They learn bravery, and sacrifice, and the true meaning of what I would call “family first” If you’ve read the book already, you would see it in Kendra’s actions, and Grandma and Grandpa Sorenson’s watchful and concerned decisions for the two siblings, having their needs first before theirs, and most importantly the significance of respect.. also mentioning to abide by the rules.

Everything I said was honest and concrete thought, each point fallen from my mind to this book review, I wanted to really show what I felt and experienced with this book.

Now that you know what it has, and what it could offer, I recommend that you buy this book. And when you do, wrap it with a plastic sheet, because one read just isn’t enough to get your senses bored of it, and as you know, frequent reading of the same book also wears it out. I guarantee you, you’ll always want to go back for more.

This is Fablehaven, a book written by Brandon Mull. Check him out on his site (brandonmull.com) to know more about him, and the books he has written and will be writing.

Fablehaven is a book not just for children, but for everyone, and especially those who search for enticing adventures, or those who just want their imaginations stimulated, and maybe re-light it once again.

My thoughts on “The Lost Hero” by Rick Riordan

Ah yes, The Lost hero.. another work of art by Mr. Rick Riordan… goodness.

I just finished this book a while ago, I mean this morning. As I reached the end of book it was just…. AHHHHH.

Okay, I’ll keep my cool.. alright, let’s get on to business.

What is this book about first? It’s really just about demigods, taking on another prophecy that’s all, nothing aweesome… I was jesting , but they really do take on another one. The book starts off with Jason, he wakes up in this bus heading to what he thought was no where, he wakes up to a girl holding his hand, and an annoying dude messing with his confusion.

The girl would be Piper, and the source of annoyance would be from Leo. Little did these three teenagers know that they were part of the seven demigods to save the world.

These three take on thrilling adventures together, and accomplish things out of this world, or at least out of their previous mortal minds.

Now you know the gist of what the whole thing is about, I would like to bring to your attention that  the information I just gave isn’t even suffice to describe what actually happens, if I tried I’d be spoiling the book for you. That is how awesome this book is! It’s indescribable.

The story was just captivating, each word would lead to another, in the sense that you’d want to know what’s next. I know it’s actually nothing new, but this one, it just caught you, the way Rick Riordan described it, each event extracted from his mind was so vivid, iridescent, flamboyant, AWESOMEE!!!!

As you may know some readers could expect what happens next after a scene, example.

“Ivan! He turned off the stove! The food’s not cooking!!”
“Goodness! Ivan, how could you let Ivan let if off!!!??”

Okay, now think what would happen next… the food didn’t heat up, and so Ivan and Ivan were deprived of dinner, wasn’t that very predictable! But for Rick Riordan’s composition, it was just so.. ugh.. beautiful, and flowing, unique every line. Example:

“We shall cross the road tomorrow…”
“Ah yes sir, we shall…”
Ivan and Ivan crossed the road, then they get hit by a random truck that wasn’t even there at the first place… both died a painful but abrupt and instant death.

See that! Who knew that they would die crossing a lifeless road? No one!! that is how Rick Riordan expresses these demigods and their numerous encounters in the book.

Not only was the book packed with adventure, and abrupt instances that would get you surprised and caught off guard, the book was accurate with the mythological information so I was educated too!

This book is a great piece of literature, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this to anyone, it could be a child who can read, or an old man who refuses to read.

If you’ve passed by this article because you are dubious about buying such book, then I tell you, disregard these thoughts! and purchase it! Read and get caught like a fly would fall into a spider’s web! There is no escape to this book’s awesomeness, prepare to be addicted after consuming it.

Thanks for reading guys!
